In December of 2017, Pakistani human rights activist Raza Mehmood Khan went missing after an event on extremism in Lahore, Pakistan. Family members claimed he had been unlawfully detained by security agencies due to his critiques of them, although the agencies denied these allegations. In support of his family in an effort to build pressure on authorities to take action, activists used the hashtag #FindRaza to advocate for his recovery. As the hashtag trended, the Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned the police to investigate. In June of 2018, Punjab police authorities reportedly "found" Khan and returned him to his family.
#Metoo movement is a massive global hashtag against the pervasiness of sexual harassment and sexual assualt Metoo became a tool to expose sexual misconduct in workplaces. The phrase Metoo started from the work of activist Tarana Burke in 2006. In 2017 actress Alyssa Milano popularized #Metoo when she used to talk about her own experience with sexual harassment. #Metoo quickly became a rallying cry and show of support world round with different iterations sparking up throughout nations like: #YoTambien, #BalanceTonPorc, #QuellaVoltaChe, and أنا_كمان#.
#BeatThePot:Woman are beating pots to bring down the Zimbabwe government
In July of 2016, Zimbabwean women took to the streets with their pots in hand as they called for the removal of President Mugabe. The march was organized by the Movement for Democartic Change (MDC) and named the #BeatThePot campaign after the hashtag that attracted the attention of the nation’s women and world in 2016. The twitter hashtag sparked an onslaught of support online as people in and out of Zimbabwe started voicing their opinions in an open online forum. #BeatThePot was started as raising frustrations over economic hardships and increased cases of starvations in Zimbabwe.The #BeatThePot campaign was a part of a string of actions against Mugabe and the ruling Zanu PF party.
